Grand Opening Final Boards
Open publication - Free publishing
These are the final boards for the Dare brief, this was something which i can make sure that i get the most from all of this, towards the end of the project i managed to capture some really strong imagery which i feel are best presented on these boards.

Mistakes
There were a few mistakes that i missed when i finished producing the menus, i spell checked everything and even got other students to grammar check and make sure the words were in the right area, but where words are spelt correctly but in the wrong area then they got through and once i printed my canvas covers for £40 i refused to print them again when i could photograph around them to avoid showing them.
This was the largest mistake that i made on this project, Desert being the sandy ocean and then Dessert being the tasty food for after your main course, this was printed massive on the front of one of my menus and it felt so stupid to make but once it was printed there wasn't much i could do against that.
Without the guides on then its hard to really be able to tell but with the layout, on one of the drink pages, i moved all the text over so that the bind wouldn't take the design away from it, but on one of the pages i forgot to do so, but luckily i managed to notice before i printed so i could change the problem and make it right.

Final Photographs
These are the final designs which i created for Dare Headingly or the project know as Grand Opening. This was something which the overall design has worked really well for what i wanted, however there are somethings that i didn't fully achieve and i wish i had more for it, the way in which the final outcomes where photographed.
I had some really successful editions of it but then on the other hand some failed and didn't give me that style which i wanted really, however for the project overall I'm happy with my results and the range of products i managed to conduct together.

Tier Effect
When the menus are placed onto each other, you can see that they have a step up formation so each menu is visible that they are different and can be seen as a step/grade apart, to make the most of this you can see what is wanted. The red of dare and then the red elastic band make a huge change in the scale of things and how i wanted the final design to work with one another.
The other way this could work would be if i were to have each of the menus a slightly changed colour so they could then link together in that format, however i think there are better things which could be changed to have the same effect without looking too obvious.

Mock Ups
These are some mock ups that i wanted to test things on, this was just a quick way so that i could see how the layout would look and work on the front of publication. My menus will be a little thicker however.
Creating the Menus
Creating the menus was something that took time to get it right with the design aspect, due to printing costs putting me back £40 i didn't want to mess things up so i was trying to be as clinical as i possibly could be, this was down to how i came about things and what i wanted to achieve.
The canvas style wasn't strong enough to hold and support the menus as they are, so to counter this i then created the grey board which will be placed into the centre of the canvas. Once this is wrapped around it will make a strong design concept for it so then the front and back cover will support everything and it will display the final layout.
The fireproof paper was something that i didn't want to be able to work along side but it still made an interesting layout, the purpose of the fireproof paper was it being the closest thing that i could find that represented astrolux paper which is mainly used in restaurants and places like that.
