Question why 5 times...

5 PROBLEMS THAT I WANT TO SOLVE

Creating a range of products.
a range of work that looks together but can work solo and still be effective

Using Editorial and Layout effectively.
making my type sessions useful and creating work i enjoy

Print Based Problems.
making sure all layouts and print colours etc all work towards the end

Tone of voice for target audience.
getting the message across effectively to the audience

Body copy to be legible and make sense when read.
make sure all sentence structure makes sense and works

5 MESSAGES I WANT TO DELIVER

Clean and concise message.
make sense without babbling on

Designers work.
be able to write a message and deliver what the designers work looks and how people feel about it

Unique tone of voice that is multi useable.
develop in a creative way which hasn't been done before but can be used for more than one purpose

Impacting upon first view.
something which draws in a viewer when they first see the design work

Influence the audience.
be able to convince the audience what your talking about

5 REASONS WHY FOR THE ABOVE REASONS

To give my work direction.
being having limitations set on my work i can then have a more in depth and meaningful final outcome to my style of work and this will allow the final outcome to turn out to be much more effective.

To alter the way people see the point which my work is communicating.
be able to make something effective whilst being simple and to the point so that the target audience can understand it and make sense of it all

To get the work the attention it deserves.
making sure to get the first impact on my work to make sure it communicates and does what it needs to do so that people take note of it

To the point.
this is one which i think is crucial to my work as when i write body text i go off on tangents and dont stick to the point, this is something i need to stop doing so setting myself a specific message to deliver gives me a purpose for it all

Making more than one.
by creating a range i will be able to full explore the limitations of everything that is going into my work and then be able to see more design choices, it also allows me to use the work which i have previously created but have no use for as of yet.

5 DISTINCT PRODUCTS THAT I COULD CREATE

A range/collection of three books
a range or collection of books which can show how the design work has developed, each consisting of cover art and editorial layouts to fill and give context.

Typographic Posters.
a range of typographic posters to explore the deisgn area and to express to the target audience about what needs to be done.

Clothing Range.
(t-shirts / jumpers / hats / bags / shoes / hoodies) anything that can be worn to express a way in which the design would take it

Prints
this can just be an image or text to make it aware when it comes to the final look of things.

On screen assets
this can range from anything of online banners to a full working website, this could be explored much further

5 WAYS TO MAKE BOOKS INTO A RANGE

Same cover different colours.
the style is the same but colours vary for each subject

Same logo / symbol on each
little symbol or logo for each of the books so this can then link these together

Package Together
box up the boks with a bell band to hold them together and make them work as a collective group

Different subject per book
change the topic for each book so each has a different subject matter for them both

Additional work along with books / magazines
fold out collectable work that can then be a range to make them a little more special and worth having

Selecting a Brief...

We had to go though a range of briefs and select one which was most fitting to the style of work which we wanted to create for the next part of this brief, we could select from a range of websites these being:

- D&AD
- YCN
- ISDT
- Graphic Competitions

these then had a varied range for each of these and then you could see what you wanted to get from each brief.

The four which i have selected are mainly to do with editorial, layout and branding, i know that i wanted to do something in this area but i wasnt one hundred percent sure what i actually wanted to do. I have gone through and highlighted the parts which i think are important on each brief and then ill be able to make 5 points on each of the briefs to show each part i like best from these...

These are my own personal final boards for the YCN Brief, i think that these reflect the style of the project that we created as a collaborative group.
