Moving Image Workshop.

Things to remember.

Always know your paper size

if your working on screen work to PAL standard (720 x 576 pixels) (25 fps)

Stills to videos

Check size of image, still images are often to large. you can change the size of each individual photo by using image size in photoshop.

and image must be RGB!

To change a group of images at the same time select - window, actions
in actions you can record a process then apply to other images with the click of a button
create new action and rename (e.g. resize for pal) then change any alterations which you would want on all your images.  save and close

once done, we can then use the action on a folder of images.

Select file menu, find automate, select the wanted first image in the collection of images in your folder, find the action 'resize' or whatever action you would like to use.
You need to ensure all your images are numbered sequentially so they're in the right order through the animation. If the images are numbered correctly and you have 100 images then you have to have the same amount of digits in each number so the first image would have to have 001, 002, 003 etc..

open quick time player 7 and select file / open image sequence / select the first image and because there numbered accordingly all the file in number order will open aswell.

make sure you export and don't save

Collection 100, Camera and Inital Idea Research.

A film, also called a movie or motion picture, is a story conveyed with moving images. It is produced by recording photographic images with cameras, or by creating images using animation techniques or visual effects. The process of filmmaking has developed into an art form and industry.

_______________

This is the work from a guy called Man Ray. This photo gram shows the negative photographs which i was going to do for my first idea, the negatives were going to be made into a pantone style book, so you could flick through and see what they would look like as a movie, you would also then get a memory stick with a stop motion movie on to show them all placed together but i dont think this idea would work as well anymore cause the idea is going to cost a fortune to do as each reel of film would cost around five pounds for each and then you would have to develop these. this would not be worth the outcome as i dont think it would do it any justice.

This then leads me on to my next idea. which was to get one hundred images and then use a microscope to zoom in on certain parts of the images and this would then show me the grain of the image and the correct photo quality, i could then draw these areas in a sketch and this would make it a personal touch. however this then leads away from the film aspect of the whole thing so i need to take it more that way but keep incorporating this general trail of thought.

The third idea which leads on from both of the first two is how i could do the same idea where i would sketch the images that i collect for this project but instead use a macro tool to zoom in close to something to show how i am accurate and precise with my work. To then draw these into the style of a Polaroid

This would then add that extra edge towards them and make them appear nicer and more professional. I then thought about what i could draw and take images off, and because i like the idea of meeting new people and finding things about them.

I first thought of the idea of drawing peoples house keys as each person has there own and its unique to there home, although through revising this idea, its not a personal object as it symbols the house and not the person who owns this.

So i took the idea to the fingerprints as this is unique again but to each person and no two people have the same fingerprint. This could work rather nicely. as it makes the ideal a unique and personal message towards me. however to do this i think it could be enhanced further and show what i think more about.

Our research and questionnaires data transformed into graphs.

Other  research and initial ideas which were created from questionnaires and data.

Here are some worksheets which i created to show the development of the Iphone App which could be used for unseen leeds. This is how we got to the end result using these sketches. Also there is some images of what would happen if you were to turn the Iphone on its side so that it can be landscape.

Development of the logo for Unseen Leeds, This was created through a group effort and we wanted it to look similar to the style of what you would expect to find from a graffiti artist.

Development of posters which would advertise the event. These would be found in graffiti spots to have a select crowd in the final show, These are a large selection and different ones would be used in each area.

Final Outcomes which are digital.

What If Revisited ... Launch Live.

These are the images which have been taken when we launched the Unseen Leeds brief. The images show that we have handed out the map and the also the poster has been posted onto walls around the city, however we hope that we didn't send anyone to it cause that could have been rather awkward for some people.

Map Live Launch.

Collection 100

Digital Versatile Disc Research.

Facts.

A DVD-Recordable or DVD-R is an optical disc with a larger storage capacity than a CD-R.

Optical disc authoring, including CD authoring and DVD authoring, is known as cloning, burning or ripping, the process of recording source material onto an optical disc.

A DVD has a recording layer coated in an organic dye. A DVD burning laser, of higher intensity than a typical DVD reading laser, etches patterns into the dye, allowing the data to be read at a later date

Finding Nemo is one of the best selling movies with over 40 million copies sold.

DVDs are a prime candidate for piracy, with a 2008 study by Furturesource Consulting finding that one-third of respondents have made illegal copies of movies.

DVD pirates use several different methods to produce the DVDs. One of the simplest methods is using a DVD recorder or personal computer to copy the data from a legal DVD to a blank disc

a DVD is made of polycarbonate that has tiny pits in it that a laser can read.
With the advent of high definition television, the development of components to match the resolution capabilities of HDTV are becoming more important. As a solution, most DVD players are equipped with "upscaling" capability to better match the performance of the DVD player with the capabilities of the today's HDTV's.

An HD-compatible DVD player is a unit that is equipped with either a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI (High Definition Multi-media Interface) connection.

Rated G – Acceptable to "general" audiences, including children.
Rated M – For "Mature" audiences.
Rated R – Restricted. Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Rated X – Children under the age of 17 not admitted.

Among the first films ever made was a series of shorts in the late 1870s that showed a horse galloping. Audiences were absolutely amazed.

The Dark Knight is the first Batman film not to have "Batman" in the title.

The most popular sport as a topic for a film is boxing.

The first black and white motion picture to be digitally converted to color was "Yankee Doodle Dandy", the 1942 biography of George M. Cohen.

The movie "Clue" has three different endings. Each ending was randomly chosen for different theaters. All three endings are present in the home video.
