Final Side of the Budget.

These are some of the choices which i have when i want to create the final side of the back of the hot dog fold spread, however i think that i need to keep trying to change how i want this to look cause it could look a lot stronger if i was to get something which worked with the rest of the work that is on this page.

This is where i added the two columns to the page i think this works a lot better with what i have already created due to how i want it to look and sit upon the page. the guide lines are still on this page and i think that this needs to be taken off as i have said in the past so that you can see it in the light which it will be printed off in.

This is the two columns above once they have all be aligned correctly and without the guide lines. i think this works rather nice and can be strongly placed together to make the most of what i am wanting from everything. these work with what i have here although ill now take a screen shot of when the whole page together so far.

I think this is working as a final outcome and the design works in a strong list together and it all works with the colours and other areas which could be used as a strong indicator of where to read next, this is down to the colour theory side of things.

I have then started on the budget section although i think that something else rather than just more text needs to be placed into this section cause it can lead to a whole manner of things just being to boring to want to look at and to try and engage with.

Budget Side, Reversed Side of the Outcome.

I wanted to add a price list for the printing methods so you can see how much it will cost you to get things ready and printed, these can cost a lot unless you take your own paper which is then described in the little chunk of text on the outcome. however i think that this looks a bit bland on how you can see it about, i think that by adding some colour to this it will brighten it right up.

This is the same image as above but this is with the guide lines on so you can see that everything is in line and straight forward, still the colour is needed to make this more eye catching and work better.

This now works alot better due to the colour. and all the guide lines have been removed so you can get an appearence of what it looks like, when printed onto the correct stock this should look savage and really stand out from the other black text around the page.

This text is just to describe what is going on and how you would like things to go and work out for you, this however needs to be laid out a lot better as this doesnt work when its just placed on there without any consideration. Work must be stronger and have more impact on what is needed to become a strong final outcome.

This is stage one of me taking into consideration of the layout, also i kerned this so it can sit stronger in the bottom corner.

I then added the line above the text to make it fit in with the rest of the outcome, this seems to be the trend within this final design.

This is what it looks like so far without the guide lines.

I then wanted a block of text to describe everything that is going on and how i can best describe it all, these are very simple and just gives a basic overview of what is happening. Although i think that when this is all correctly kerned and sat in the correct spacing this will make that section look more complete.

This is that section with everything in the correct spacing and how i want it to look but it still has the guide lines on there and this is not going to help for visual look of it all, i think that by removing them guide lines and then seeing what it can look like without will tell us what we really want to think about this design.

Here it is without the guide lines, im happy with how this looks and works as a design outcome.

I however changed the text which was sat to the bottom right of the price list as i didn't like how it looked and sat within the work, i then kerned it and make it look like it was supposed to be sat there, and i think that the work has benefited from this. This now works a lot stronger than the previous designs.

Budget Side of Things, Progression.

This is the first design where i started making the different quotes from which students have said to me and how i want them to look and be created. The best way in which i can show and deliver this was by adding a large section to get the point across at the side, however i think that by doing this i have changed my opinion and i could also change what other people think and what i want them to do with my work.

This is when i created the outcome with the guide lines on there but everything has not been correctly kerned or anything yet, i will adjust this to make it work before the end product is complete, i then added orange to it to see if this works the best, it does look rather nice but i was going to make it strippy but i dont think i will bother doing this anymore due to it looking too school like and childish, i want to keep this looking professional.

Everything kerned and altered so that it fits within the limitations that i have set, nice outcome and works very well for the style that im needing to keep everything working in check, i have now changed the colour to orange aswell cause i think that it makes it stand out more upon the paper.

Here is a simple screen shot without the guides so you can see how it looks and sits on the outcome.

This is the progression i have made so far and what i think it should look like when its fully created (so far) the way that i have laid things out i think can give a nice range and what i wanted to do will work to the best of its capabilities. however i think that once fully created it will be eye catching and make people want to pick it up and take there time to look at it.

Start on the Budget side of things.

This is a title which i thinks works really well so that it links it bak to graphic design and can be thought of by the first years. These are the best way to bring there interest into the concept of things and how you can see what you need to, to make it work best.

This is the first section which i have created so that i can make it work and read right to try and draw there attention into the top section of what i am creating, the section says about past experiences such as when i had to live the last three weeks of uni on ninty pence a day, this then can be seen and read along with others experiences, however i think that this is a very effective way to do this.

The second section is similar but i think that i can work it a lot better by adding these two sections together and then with this combination create an opening section which will draw you in and make you want to read more.

This is what is looks like when you have the final image zoomed out but with the guides still there so you can see they are all in line and work to the best of there standard. This is the first section of the front cover completed and i think that it works well and once completed look professional and crisp.

Front Cover Development.

bargin deals was an idea to try and fill space on the section next to the key, but i still like the idea of spreading out what i already have created on the left to make it easier to read and more visually appealing.

Here is a close up of the key which tells you everything you need to know about the map. works rather nice, and is clear which links to which sections, although this can still be enhanced by giving more space so there will be no confusion, cause some daft idiot will try make a point of it.

development of space making. blank page to the right.

already you can see the improvement it makes to the outcome, the way in which it looks more fresh and clean cut, yet still delivers everything it did before.

This is the final outcome of what it looks like and how it has all been placed together, the space makes it look alot cleaner and you can now see even easier which colours link to which sections, then you can look across to the map which is clearly labeled and be shown the way.

This one just has the guides on so that you can see that everything is inline and in the right order so that you can then make the most of what is going on, everything on here lines up and looks right to the eye so then i will move onto the next section.

This is the completed front cover of the hotdog fold, i think that this works best for what i am wanting to create, everything reads right and looks like it should be so i am happy with this outcome, after getting feedback from other students around the college they have all agreed that this is a strong piece of design and it would have been useful when they first started the university.

Initial Front Cover.

this is the first stage of the process which i wanted to address, i decided to add the three names of the places which i am going to create these hot dog folds for, although i will change how you can see them. I think ill play around with the opacity and the colour so that i can get a perfect balance on what i want from the title to draw the audience in.

These are the style in which the maps will be, i think that if i keep the colour on them then you will be able to see what works best for each of them and what doesnt, it will also make things easier to follow as everyone will know upon looking at this that the green area is hyde park, thus giving them a strong key point in which you can follow.

I then needed a key of which you can follow easy and be able to see what is what and where the key points are on the map, i added circles of colour to the map so you can see where each area is and then dropped the opacity back so that you can see the area underneath to get a more direct impact on whats going on. The key to the left of the map which you can see above is the way to see a little information about each of the areas although i don't think that it will work being that cramped up together i may need to change it so you can read it more easier.

This is what i have achieved so far for the the final outcome of the front cover for one of the hot dog folds. The map is placed to the side so that you can get a much bigger version of looking at it, then the key is to the top left although i think that its rather squashed in and i would like to make it more free in area. i will use the area to the right so that you can see it much easier and then it'll come across more spacious. the rest of the fold i think works although maybe the text in the bottom left of the page where it says "if you have any other questions, ask a second year (most) of us don't bite) maybe that could be played around with a little more so it just looks more visually appealing.

Map Screenshots.

These are the screenshots which i have took to find the quickest way to each of the most convenient places around the accommodation area. i will hand these out to the students that live at each of them and then they will be able to tell me of the best areas there in general. this will give the best possible outlook on what my project is all about.
