Z spacing with frame 2.

This is an image that i chopped up using photoshop and the pen tool, i then used the path tool to make this work in the fashion which i really wanted it too turn out, this then forced me into trying to make more of the z spacing work and look how i wanted it too yet this one proved rather difficult.

All of these above show how i have chopped up the images and which section lies with each so you can then get a sense of the overall layout of my images.

I then imported all these into After Effects and this made the whole layer up again, but with using z spacing you can see below that they have a jaggered edge to the way in which they work , they have to be created like this so im able to see what i want them to appear like.

This is the view that i have to work with when im looking at the three smaller images which appear below of the main image, this is something that i need to look into further i think so that i can work it out.

Organisation Of Folders...

This was something which i was warned off from the very start, i don't like how things have been placed like this and i think that it can really make me struggle when i don't have them as organised. Due to me keeping things under control from the start i have managed to make sure that everything is in the right order and works with the best style that i think...

Z Spacing and Camera's...

this is my first attempt at achieving z spacing and using the cameras so that i can see how i want these to work out and what i want to achieve with them, these can be a range from anything such as panning in and out on images. i don't want things to get too complicated and this makes sure this cant happen.

above is the image before i started to edit it this allows me to then play around with it and i need to cit the section out that im going to use to make the effect of things moving around and what i need to work with.

tree that i want to be placed at the front has been chopped out using the lasso tool

i then cloned the background so that there isn't white space when i start to play around with it this makes it look alot easier to play with and will allow me to use this function in the best possible light to make it work.

here is when i have chopped out all the section that i need the most and then i  have layered these back up so that they work in a style that im really happy with.

these are then the next steps which show what i had to work with and how i want these to work

this is screen grabs of the final effect that i achieved, the quality is on low as i didn't change it back from third quality when i did the screen shots as i needed it to render faster to save me time

Idents Complete (Issuu Version)

This is some of the progress which i have made when it comes to the Idents, these are screen shots every half a second, this is so that i can see how they are going to look and so that you can see this aswell. There may be some changes made to these as i go but these are looking pretty final to me at the moment unless anything gets brought up by the crit.

Post Production Storyboards...

Silent Movie 1...

Silent Movie 2...

Silent Movie 3...

Silent Movie 4...

Silent Movie 5...

For one of the deliverables for this project i had to create the five silent movies which all link together to be able to make the most of things in the best possible light, we then had to grab 15 screen grabs for each of the 5 second silent movies, these are the screen grabs above!

After Effects Workshop

In todays session were going to learn about:
-How to add sound
- Grouping layers
- Key framing techniques

If you select all the layers on the page and then you press "U" you are then able to see all the key points that have been activated to be used and how they are going to effect the project you are working on

The motion lines which come from the objects when they move are what you think is going to happen... the dots which are along this time show the pace of which its going to move, the closer the dots the slower it will be as each dot resembles a frame

How to ease in and ease out...

this makes the key frames along the line of travel to change so there are more at the start and less towards the end and vice versa ... this makes things work alot better and more smoothly then trying to do this yourself

this shows both of them which started at the same time and finishing at the same time yet still showing the ease in and ease out features.

the grey section shows how the "easy ease" works ... this applies both ease in and ease out to the way path of the feature.

There is a graph select button which allows you to look into the section of which you like and how it works. This function allows you to make things work more easily and will let you look into sections of whats going on and how you want things to be created.

These are the way to make the pendulum work so that it swings with the fastest point in the centre and the slowest on the outside, this makes it work realistically.

Establishing parent child relationships...

this is the way that you can make one object do the same as the rest of them by using this to make them all work in unison. The section to the right is called the parent section ... you then can select them to all do the same thing as one slide which you choose, this works out rather well.

Nesting...

by doing this you are able to make sure that you can get these to sit so that you wont accidentally adjust the parts of this ... this is like working with one layer which makes things much easier

however if you need to adjust it, just double click on the composition and you can adjust this.

Gill Sans Breakdown - Typography Module

This was the type workshop work which we had to complete for graham, we each had to choose a type face and then make a layout which showed you the break down of the type face itself, this is something that worked rather well for me and i think that my layout has the desired effect which i wanted, its simple to read and delivers all the information that you could need for the type face "Gill Sans"

Jungle Scene... Layers / Camera Zoom

These three above are the images of just the background and the text layed on there, this is so that when i pan the camera onto it you are able to see how things are going to work out and what you expect of the things to happen with it

These four above are when its got the background layer invisible to be seen and then you are able to see how i have cut out the layers for this tree to be made into the 3d layer which it has so then it can link together

The two images above are one of the start and one of the end so you can see the impact of what i wanted to work overall, this is similar to the style which i would want to achieve all the way through the project so this is what im expecting from the rest of my work so it has the best possible effect.

Feedback from Progress crit...

Strengths...

Vector skills are really strong, create more vector imagery
Interesting visual concept to work with
Like how you combined vector image and text

Areas for Improvement...

Top ten survival tips for ...???
Define environments
Select one environment
Develop more research
Design directions needed

Considerations...

Existing survival documentary. idents opening credits , frozen planet, simple, effective, effective type

Other methods to create the imagery for after effects.

Look at a wider variety of idents / tv opening sections, for ideas, to at how you plan to animate and look for things that resemble the same sort of style, is it going to be purely vectored or are you going to use found images material?

Other ideas to help me progress...

say when the idents will be played in the day to reach the target audience the best possible way.
maybe go humorous with it ... but if you do then stick with humour all the way through for consistency

Layouts for End Type

This was created so that i had a range of various layouts to see which i wanted to work and which actually worked best with the style of work that im doing, there is a small collection here but i think the first one works best due to the balance that ive created using the giant rock on the left and the type on the right.

Adding Effects to Type

This was when i was implying the effects for the Gaussian Blur to be implied into the idents that i was creating, this was something that i needed to get done with the effects so that it wasn't just as simple as dropping in and dropping out the final text.

As you can see through the range of my screen grabs that as i have implied the blur effect you are able to see how the text was effected by the change it has got, i think i need to make the most of this and make sure that i don't mess around when it comes down to the final view of it.

I think ive done a good job of this blur effect and will be implying this into my final one minute outcome.
