No News Is Good News, Message & Delivery Poster Research.

After designing the previous piece of design to the first section of this brief i have to now create a Mail Shot which i can send out and get my opinion across to counter the fact which i designed. 




CONSIDERATIONS



What do you want to say and how do you want to say it? What language would be appropriate ?


i want to deliver a message which will create a strong impact on the public and make them think about things that are happening in Iraq, this would be a strong way to gather attention from this. The language which i could use for this would have to be rather shocking and make people thing about the concept and what they feel about this. I will most likely incorporate some some of high impact fact which i think and then this should draw the attention of people in. 




What visual Languages exist that relate to your message and how can you use them ?


There are a lot of images out there which are war related but i want to try a different approach, this would be a gamble when it comes to the final outcome for all this but i am willing to take this chance to create a strong visual experiment for the outcome, i will thought gather ideas from these images and then develop ideas from these.




Is the content communicated primarily through type or image ? if it is both then what is the relationship between them?


I am going to try and just use typography as for me i am stronger in this area but i think that i may try to add images because i would like to develop my skills as a designer. 




What does your mail shot aim to achieve ? does it direct you to a website encourage you to attend an event is it interactive or is it self contained ?


I just want to raise awareness for the selected few people that i send these images to and this could make a stronger design overall, if i were to change a few opinions then that would be a successful outcome for the poster.








I then had to create a fact, opinion and question to choose one of them and create the direct mail. This would be the spine of the next project so i needed something that was impacting. 



Fact: 98,585 documented civilian casualties from violence in the Iraq war.


Opinion: Waste of time for our troops to be over there and its only just to steal oil. 


Question: 98,585 documented civilian casualties but how any documented stolen gallons of oil?






I then had to answer the questions of who, what, why and how, these will also help the layout of what i am wanting to make this final outcome look like. 


Who: Younger generation, Families of soldiers, Soldiers, Oil companies, Council.


What: Civilian casualties in Iraq war.


Why: to raise awareness and change views of selected people which would receive this mail shot.


How: Poster design, Leaflet, Small postcard sized card, USB stick with information on it, Wallet sized card.

(most of these that i will mail are all to do with younger generation as they will be the ones which are wanting to join the army, i am here to create a shocking message which could change the way that they look at how they see and feel about the whole scenario)
